Yes, Poo Squad picks up dog poop in Mahomet. Your local Poo Squad crew comes out from the Champaign area as part of Poo Squad Champaign, locally owned by Avian Gerdes. In Mahomet we handle regular dog poop removal, one time cleanups, yard deodorizing, commercial pet waste removal and event pooper scooper services.
You moved out to Mahomet for the room. The trees. The forest preserves just up the road. Then your dog found all that room too. Now the backyard is a minefield and nobody wants to mow. We get it. We know dog poop. Unfortunately.
Where Mahomet's Dogs Live (and Leave Little Presents)
Mahomet keeps growing. Village planners say about 260 residential lots are already approved across Harvest Edge, Thornewood and Sangamon Fields. Thornewood is the biggest subdivision in town, with new construction still underway and some homesites right on the water. New sod. New fences. New puppies. That's a lot of fresh lawn to protect.
The established neighborhoods have plenty of dogs too. Ridge Creek sits on the far northern tip of town, close to the forest preserve. Country Ridge is a quiet, mostly residential pocket on the south end. Timberview, on the west side, puts you near schools and parks. Cobblecreek Farms, Hunters Ridge, Briarcliff, Conway Farms and Windwood all have backyards with the same problem. And if your place backs up to the water in Lake Ridge or Spring Lake, you've got one more reason to keep waste off the grass. More on that below.
Wherever you are in Mahomet, we scoop the yard so you don't have to. Our dog poop removal service keeps it from piling up in the first place.
Mahomet Parks and Trails Worth the Walk
The village counts over 100 acres of open space across ten park locations. Water Tower Park is one locals know well. Its formal name is Brooks-Warfel Park, and you'll find it at 405 E. Dunbar St. 13 Acres Park on West St. is mostly open fields where sports teams practice and play.
The big draw sits just north of town. Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve, along with Buffalo Trace, is off Route 47 and covers about 900 acres. A paved path crosses the preserve from Stidham Woods to Buffalo Trace, using a covered bridge over the Sangamon River. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Trail signs there also warn that coyotes are around. Ever wondered if dog poop attracts coyotes? Worth a read if your yard backs up to the woods. Riverbend Forest Preserve, with its tree-lined lake, is another Mahomet favorite.
Bring bags. Leave nothing behind. The next family on the trail will thank you.

Mahomet's Dog Rules, Minus the Legalese
Mahomet's animal rules live in Chapter 92 of the Village Code. Here's the short version.
- Keep your dog leashed. Section 92.24 says your dog can't run at large, or be on the public right of way or someone else's property, unless it's securely restrained by a leash or other means.
- No excuses. That same section makes it an absolute liability offense. "He never runs off" won't help. A loose dog counts as a nuisance and may be impounded.
- Clean up after your dog. Chapter 92 has a section of its own titled "Removal of excrement" (Section 92.25). We wouldn't test it. Scoop every time.
- Impound goes through the county. The village works with Champaign County for animal impound services.
For the full wording and any updates, check the Village of Mahomet website. Curious how towns usually enforce this stuff? Our guide to fines for not picking up dog poop walks through it.
Leaf Piles, Lake Lots and Your Mahomet Yard
Mahomet runs a landscape waste collection program, with leaf collection spelled out in Village Code Sections 50.35 to 50.40. It's tempting to sneak a few bags of poop in with the leaves. Please don't. Here's why dog poop doesn't belong in yard waste.
Live on the water in Thornewood, Lake Ridge or Spring Lake? Rain doesn't make poop disappear. It just moves it, often downhill toward the pond. Our take on whether dog poop washes away in the rain explains what's really happening.
Then there's winter. Snow covers everything, and you stop scooping because, honestly, who can find it? Then it melts. Surprise. That's exactly when a one time cleanup earns its keep. We clear the backlog, and you start spring fresh.
Festivals, Businesses and Shared Green Space in Mahomet
Mahomet loves a get-together. Soda Fest, the Mahomet Music Festival, Fall for Mahomet, classic car shows and Village Christmas all land on the local calendar. Planning a dog-friendly gathering in town? Our event pooper scooper services keep the grass clean so people remember the fun, not the mess.
The village is also planning for growth in the Eastwood commercial district and along the Patton Drive business district. If you run a business there, or manage a subdivision common area, our commercial pet waste removal keeps shared lawns pleasant for tenants and neighbors. Setting rules for a neighborhood? Our HOA dog rules guide is a good start.
Why Mahomet Families Call a Pooper Scooper Company
Lots of Mahomet folks commute into Champaign-Urbana. Long days, practices at 13 Acres, then the dog needs out. Scooping slides to the bottom of the list. We understand. Nobody fights over that chore.
Here's the catch. Poop sitting in the grass isn't harmless. It can carry bacteria and parasites, and it does your lawn no favors. Read up on bacteria in dog poop if you've got kids rolling around out there. Still smelling it after the poop's gone? Our yard deodorizing takes care of that lingering funk.
If you've been searching for a pooper scooper company Urbana neighbors trust and hoping it reaches Mahomet, good news. It does. Mahomet is one of the towns we serve, alongside Champaign, Urbana, Savoy and the rest of our area.
