Yes, Poo Squad picks up dog poop in Rantoul. Your local Poo Squad crew comes up from the Champaign area to handle recurring dog poop removal, one time cleanups, yard deodorizing, commercial pet waste removal and event pooper scooper services. Poo Squad Champaign is locally owned by Avian Gerdes, and Rantoul is part of our home turf.
You know the drill. You let the dog out, you mean to scoop later, and later turns into three weeks. Now the backyard is a minefield. We get it. We also fix it.
A Pooper Scooper Company From Urbana's Side of the County, Up the Road in Rantoul
Rantoul sits about 15 miles north of Champaign along Interstate 57. That's close enough for us to treat it like a neighbor, not a side trip. If you've been searching for a pooper scooper company near Urbana that will actually come out to Rantoul, this is that page.
Here's how it works. We walk your whole yard, pick up every pile we find, bag it and haul it off. You don't touch a thing. Most Rantoul folks want regular visits so the mess never builds up again. Others just need one big reset. Either way, you get your grass back and your shoes stay clean.

Where Rantoul's Dogs Live: Indian Hills, Rolling Acres and the Old Base
Rantoul is a village with roomy yards. Homes here tend to sit on full sized lots, which is great for dogs. It's less great when you're the one walking every square foot with a bag.
We know the neighborhoods people actually name. There's Indian Hills Subdivision, the established neighborhood with its two ponds. There's Rolling Acres, a neighborhood house hunters ask for by name. Near the golf course you'll find midcentury brick condos. And then there's the big one.
From 1917 to 1993, Rantoul was home to Chanute Air Force Base. Today part of the old base is housing, including former officers' quarters turned into townhouses. Shared lawns and small yards on the old base fill up fast when a few dogs share the grass. A regular scoop keeps those common spaces friendly for everybody.
Rantoul Parks Your Dog Already Knows
The Village of Rantoul runs a solid lineup of parks through its Recreation Department on East Flessner Avenue. Odds are your dog has a favorite. Between them you'll find playgrounds, picnic areas and a fishing lake. Here are the names you'll hear around town:
- Heritage Lake and Park
- Rudzinski Park and Ryan Park, both nice for an easy walk
- Grove Street Park, Mary Alice Park and North Drive Park
- Wabash Park, Winston Park and Youth Center Park
- The village bike paths, a favorite for long leashed walks
You can browse every spot on the Rantoul Parks and Recreation page. One thing you'll notice: the village's park list doesn't include a dedicated dog park. So your backyard does a lot of the heavy lifting. And a lot of the heavy dropping. That's where we come in.
Rantoul's Leash and Cleanup Rules, in Plain English
Rantoul's animal rules live in Chapter 8 (Animals) of the village code, and the Rantoul Police Department's Animal Control Division enforces them. Here's the short version.
- Leash up off your property. Dogs must be leashed and under your control any time they step onto someone else's lawn or private property.
- Off leash means "at large." A dog off its owner's property without a leash counts as at large. Basically a stray.
- Stores and public buildings count too. A dog in a shop or public building counts as at large, unless it's a working animal.
- Bites mean quarantine. A dog that bites someone goes into a 10 day quarantine and can't leave the village without Animal Control's OK.
What about poop? When Rantoul rewrote its animal ordinance in the early 2000s, the News-Gazette reported that the new version required owners to pick up after their pets anywhere off their own property. Park, bike path, neighbor's grass: scoop it. For questions about current rules, call the Rantoul Police non-emergency line at (217) 892-2103 or check the village's Animal Control page. Rantoul's Biggest Pet Landmark Is on Art Bartell Road
Here's a fun local fact. The Champaign County Animal Control Animal Services Facility is right in Rantoul, at 210 S. Art Bartell Road. It's open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and closed Sundays and holidays.
So if you found a stray, lost your own pup or just adopted a new family member, chances are your story runs through Rantoul. New dog in the house? Congrats. Your yard is about to find out. Setting up a routine early is easier than digging out later, and our post on how often to pick up dog poop in your yard is a good place to start.
Spring Thaw in Rantoul: The Yard Remembers Everything
Central Illinois winters are sneaky. Snow covers the yard, the dog keeps going, and nobody wants to scoop in the cold. Then the thaw hits and every pile from December shows up at once. Fun.
That's the perfect time for a one time cleanup. We clear the backlog so you start the season fresh. Then add yard deodorizing if the smell hangs around near the patio or the kids' play area. And if you were hoping all that waste would feed the lawn, sorry. Dog poop isn't good for grass, no matter how long it sits.
Rantoul Rentals, Businesses and Dog Friendly Gatherings
Rantoul isn't just single family yards. Managing townhouses on the old base, an apartment property or another spot where dogs share the grass? Our commercial pet waste removal keeps common areas clean, so tenants stop complaining and start walking their dogs there again.
Hosting a dog friendly event in a Rantoul park or a big backyard party with plenty of pups? Ask about our event pooper scooper services. We handle the cleanup so you can enjoy the day.
