Poo Squad Hutchinson is the pooper scooper service for South Hutchinson, KS. Our crew is based in the Hutchinson area, just across the Arkansas River, and we scoop South Hutch yards weekly, every other week, or as a one-time cleanup. Locally owned by Andrew Ehling, and you can reach us at (620) 322-0522.
You know the drill. You step out back, the dog runs ahead, and you're scanning the grass like it's a minefield. We get it. We know dog poop. Unfortunately.
Big South Hutchinson Lawns Mean Big Poop Hunts
South Hutchinson is a small city. About 2,521 people lived here at the 2020 census. But the yards aren't small. Most homes are one-story ranches and bungalows sitting on grassy lawns, and the average lot runs over a quarter acre.
That's a lot of ground for one dog to decorate. And a lot of ground for you to walk with a bag in hand. Piles hide in tall grass along the fence line. They get mowed over. They dry out and turn into a gross surprise in spring.
Our residential pooper scooper service walks the whole yard, every visit. Front, back, side yard, dog run. We bag it, haul it away, and close the gate behind us.

Where South Hutch Dogs Get Their Walks In
Here's a South Hutchinson quirk. Many neighborhood streets here have no curbs or sidewalks. So dog walks happen right along the street edge and the strip of grass in front of your neighbor's house. That's exactly where an unscooped pile causes hard feelings.
For more room to run, most South Hutch dog owners head north across the river into Hutchinson:
- Hutchinson Dog Park at 1501 S Severance St. Two fenced acres of grass, with separate sides for big dogs and small or timid dogs. It has covered seating, drinking water and waste stations.
- Carey Park on Carey Park Blvd, home of the Hutchinson Zoo. Lots of grass and room for a long leashed walk.
- The Arkansas River itself. It marks South Hutchinson's north and east city limits, and the town is listed along the Arkansas River Water Trail.
Good walks make happy dogs. Happy dogs make more poop. That's just math.
The River Next Door Is Why Scooping Matters Here
South Hutchinson sits right on the Arkansas River. The river is what separates you from Hutchinson. So when a heavy Kansas rain soaks a yard full of old piles, that runoff has somewhere to go.
Rain doesn't wash dog poop away. It just spreads it out. We explain why in does dog poop wash away in the rain. Short version: picking it up is the only fix that works.
Your grass will thank you too. Dog poop isn't fertilizer, no matter what your uncle says. Read is dog poop good for grass if you've got brown spots and questions.
South Hutchinson's Dog Rules, in Plain English
The City of South Hutchinson has its own animal code, separate from Hutchinson's. Here's what dog owners should know.
- Register your dog every year (Section 2-201). Every dog over six months old must be registered with the city clerk. The registration year runs January 1 through December 31. New dogs, or dogs you bring into town, need to be registered within 30 days.
- Bring proof of rabies shots. No rabies certificate, no registration.
- The fee is small. It's $3 a year for a spayed or neutered dog and $7 for a dog that isn't. Fees can be prorated if you move to town partway through the year.
- No running at large (Section 2-206). A dog running at large can be impounded. "At large" means outside a fence or enclosure, or not on a leash under someone's control.
- Tie-outs near the street count as at large. If your dog is tethered within reach of a public street, the code treats it as loose.
- Barking counts too. A dog whose loud, frequent barking disturbs the neighborhood is a nuisance under the code. The owner has to fix it.

Maybe winter got away from you. Maybe the yard went untouched all season. No judgment. Seriously, we've seen worse.
