You moved to Cibolo for the newer house, the schools and the short drive to Randolph. Nobody warned you about the backyard landmines. We know dog poop. Unfortunately. So let's talk about your yard.

Why Your Cibolo Backyard Works So Hard

Here's a number that surprised us. The Trust for Public Land counts 5 parks in Cibolo and says about 1% of the city's land is used for parks and recreation. The national median is 15%.

That tells you something. In Cibolo, the backyard is the dog park. Most of the running, sniffing and, yes, pooping happens on your own grass.

And it adds up fast. A single dog can leave a lot behind in a week. Skip a few weekends and you're dodging piles on the way to the grill. That's where we come in. Our dog poop removal service keeps your yard on a steady pickup plan, so the mess never gets a head start. Not sure how often you need us? Our guide on how often to pick up dog poop in your yard breaks it down.

Where Cibolo's Dogs Live and Play

Cibolo is a town of subdivisions, and we know them by name. Bentwood Ranch. Saddle Creek Ranch. Heights of Cibolo. Turning Stone. Deer Creek. Falcon Ridge. Charleston Parke. Cibolo Valley Ranch. Town Creek Village. Up north, newer communities like Northcliffe, Foxbrook and Homestead Commons come with HOA-maintained greenbelts where plenty of dogs get walked.

Live under an HOA? Most have opinions about pet waste. Our HOA dog rules guide covers what to expect.

Cibolo's city parks

The City of Cibolo maintains about 200 acres of parkland across four parks: Niemietz Park, Al Rich Park, Schlather Park and Veterans' Memorial Park.

  • Schlather Park on Wiedner Road opened in the summer of 2012. It has walking trails, an 18-hole disc golf course and a playground. The land was donated by Fritz and Sandy Schlather, from one of Cibolo's earliest families.
  • Niemietz Park on FM 78 was dedicated in 1977. It has walking trails, a pavilion and ball fields.

More walking is on the way. The city's Parks and Recreation page describes the Town Creek Trail project, still under design. The plan is about 2 miles of ten-foot-wide hike and bike trail linking Schlather Park, FM 1103, Old Town, FM 78 and the area near the Sports Complex. More trail means more leashed walks. Bring bags.

What Cibolo's Rules Say About Dogs (and Their Poop)

Cibolo's animal rules live in Chapter 10 of the city code. Here's the plain English version.

  • Leash or fence. Off your property, your dog needs to be on a leash or lead and under your control. At home, your dog stays behind a fence strong and tall enough to hold it, inside the house, or secured on a sturdy leash.
  • Animal Services enforces it. According to the city's Animal Control page, the ordinances cover dogs and cats running at large, too many animals, noisy animals and dangerous animals.
  • Pet registration. Ordinance No. 1338, adopted in June 2021, revised Cibolo's pet registration requirements. Check with Cibolo Animal Services if you're new in town.

So what about the poop?

Cibolo's nuisance chapter (Chapter 46) makes it an offense to let your property breed flies or mosquitoes, or to leave animal excreta exposed in a way that could spread disease. So a yard full of old piles isn't just gross. It can become a code problem.

Flies are usually the first sign. Here's why dog poop attracts flies and what to do about it.

One more park rule. Niemietz Park is closed from 11 p.m. to sunrise, so plan late walks somewhere else.

Moving Into (or Out of) Cibolo?

Cibolo grows fast. The city has tracked new sections going up in places like Buffalo Crossing II and Bella Rosa. Plenty of residents are military families, since most Schertz and Cibolo neighborhoods sit about 5 to 15 minutes from JBSA-Randolph.

That means lots of moves. Lots of PCS orders. Lots of backyards that need attention before the keys change hands.

Our one time cleanup handles the backlog in a single visit. Moving out of a rental? Inheriting a yard the last dog owner ignored? We'll clear it. Then add yard deodorizing if the smell stuck around after the poop left.

Pet Places and Events in Cibolo

Thinking about adding a dog to the family? Start local. Cibolo Animal Services runs the city's shelter, and it maintained no-kill status in 2022, saving more than 90% of the dogs and cats that came in. The city credits adoption events and rescue partnerships for that.

At last check, the city's Adopt a Pet page listed a $125 dog adoption fee that includes spaying or neutering, microchipping, rabies and DAPP vaccines, deworming and an initial flea treatment. That's a good deal. And yes, your new buddy will poop. We can help with that part.

Cibolo Parks and Recreation also hosts free community events through the year, including CiboloFest and Cibolo Summer Nights. Planning your own dog-friendly gathering? Our event pooper scooper services keep the grass clean while the guests have fun. HOAs and apartment communities can ask about commercial pet waste removal for shared greenbelts and pet stations.
